Session II: Empowerment of Women in Business

Abstract

Good afternoon, Your Excellency, Mr. President, Members of the Board of LAU and Members of the LAU Chapter in Dubai. I really thank you for inviting me to be here to talk to you today about a subject that is very close to my heart — and that is business. I actually started my own business at a very young age — at the age of four. Yes, my mother discovered one day that I had a lot of coins and she asked
me where I had gotten them from. I asked her, “If I tell you the truth will you spank me?” and she said, “No, please let me know.” So I told her that I was very clumsy in art class and I used to take the labels from the bottles of juice and
sell them in the school and that’s how I made my money. She encouraged me and she really backed me up and that’s how I started in business.
